A star for Owen
I have met some amazing strangers people through blogging, many of which I am happy to call my friends and most of whom I've never met in person. The internet has allowed me to be connected to family, friends and other Mamas in a way that wasn't possible twenty years ago.
A few months ago Lindsay left some comments on my blog. We emailed back and forth about how quickly the time passes and how the fleeting moments of babyness are both exhausting and wonderful (she has two little boys, a toddler and a tiny bundle). She asked me if she could make a gift for Owen. She found our blog when we were featured on Spearmint Baby and wanted to paint a picture for his room.
This week we received the gift and I absolutely LOVE it! She even painted O's Hebrew name on the side of it. It was her first time painting in Hebrew and I think she did a great job.
This blog has provided me with a lot of opportunities - friendship being the most unexpected.
Thank you for the gift Lindsay! Check out her adorable little Etsy shop (I've been swooning over the mustache prints, myself)

Spearmint Baby!!
I am so honored that O's nursery is featured on Spearmint Baby today! I spent the majority of my pregnancy gathering ideas from this inspirational blog and am thrilled to share our favorite space with other Moms and Moms-to be!
I was recently paging through the new Jewish parenting site Kveller.com and was happy to find this article on how to incorporate some Jewish charm into a nursery without being overly theme-y. Much to my surprise TWO of the elements that I had already incorporated in our space were in the article! The Aleph Bet hanging I found while visiting family in Denver, CO last fall and the Noah's Ark frame was gift we received for Owen's naming.
Welcome, Spearmint Baby readers! You can find more details about Owen's nursery HERE.

Baby Owen's Nursery
I've been meaning to post pictures of O's nursery for quite some time, and finally we had good light in the afternoon so I could take a few. I am so happy with the way it turned out, it is actually my favorite place in the apartment - it smells like Owen and the time we spend together in here just melts my heart. So many months of planning and "bed rest nesting" turned into this. It was well worth the wait. I hope Owen enjoys it as he grows and explores.
Since we are renting we chose not to paint the walls, I think the existing neutral color works well.
The prints are custom from Etsy designer Lucky BlueBird
The alphabet cards are from Eboo hung with care by Jeremy
The little yellow table I bought at Urban Outfitters for our room, but it was much too low for our bed. It works perfectly in the nursery, I have my breast pump on it and a touch lamp which has been a lifesaver for night feedings. We actually liked the lamps so much we bought another set for our room!
I found some bookshelves I liked at Pottery Barn but they were WAY too expensive, so my dad made these three shelves for Owen. This is probably Owen's favorite part of the room, he pops off the boob constantly to look at his books and when he's done eating stares at the shelves until I read him a few. It's adorable!
The changer is actually a swedish-style TV stand that works perfectly - especially for a taller daddy. I love how the legs at the bottom angle out and the wood matches the drawer on the crib. I found the baskets at Crate and Barrel and they fit exactly. We fill them with diapers, wash cloths and changing pad covers - very convenient!
Crib is Baby Mod from Wal-Mart
The glider was my birthday present from Jeremy, it is Carter's brand from Babies R Us. I love that the ottoman also glides with it. We found it on sale and then used a 20% off coupon to get it at almost half the retail price!
Train rug is from Overstock.com and was a last minute choice. It is so soft and plush with a thick pad underneath, makes for a perfect surface for a baby to play and crawl on.
Every night before bed, we play the BabyMine CD that is loaded up on a nursery playlist on the iboo! Jeremy found this fun ipod dock for the nursery and we love it. Just enough sound to fill the room and I can use the remote to start the playlist while nursing Owen in the glider.
