Owen's favorite number is THREE! He shows us three fingers and says "THREE!" all the time (even though we have worked on counting... one...two.. three...four... he just really likes THREE! He actually doesn't hold up one finger anymore when we ask him how old he is, only three!) During bath time Owen wants the wet wash cloth over his face. He squeals and holds his breath as we count to three and then he grabs it off and gives it to us to play again. He could seriously play this game for a half hour. It totally cracks us up and earlier this week Jeremy said, "This is so cute, I want to take a video but its probably considered child abuse..."
At the risk of CPS being called, we decided to take a video last night after TONS of bath time giggles.
Here is our game... THREE!

Owen walks!!!
Today out of nowhere we caught Owen walking from the couch to the chair! Our little bug finally found the confidence -- so we tried to encourage him some more so we could get his very first steps on camera!

Justin Bieber Doppelganger?
I really dislike moving. Like REALLY, REALLY dislike. We're making good progress but the ten or so boxes still piled around the apartment are giving me anxiety. All I keep thinking about his how much crap I want to give away and how I have no time to bag and organize it all. Owen seems unphased by the move. We set his room up exactly the same way so not to throw him off too much. We have a little more carpet in this apartment (brand new carpet) so he's enjoying crawling on that. Notice I said crawling because this boy has yet to take a step on his own. Jeremy lost the bet for walking by 14 months and I'm still holding onto my guess of 16 months. This boy has definitely taught us to have patience.
This past weekend we went to a BBQ and Owen got his very first cuts and scrapes (under Daddy's supervision... not that we're pointing fingers or anything...) He wanted to push a little (weightless) grocery cart around the driveway which resulted in several falls leaving him with a few knee scrapes and a bloody gash on his thumb. I was horrified (not to mention he was FILTHY) and Jeremy was thrilled. Not because Owen got hurt, but because apparently his injuries made him look like a "real boy"
We're entering into stage of serious separation anxiety and Owen has been very clingy with me. I took him to the library for story hour and he didn't leave my side. I was beginning to wonder if we had somehow managed to avoid it, but I guess we just had a late onset (story of our lives with Owen). He's been getting upset when I leave the room, even if he's with Jeremy and it is taking much longer for me to put him down to sleep for naps and bedtime because he wants to be rocked and cuddled again and again. When Jeremy is doing bedtime stories Owen points to the door and cries until I come in. Seeing as though I've also been the brunt of his new hitting-in-the-face and random biting it's nice to be used as something other than a punching bag once in a while.
I think we're entering into toddlerhood folks, which makes those ten boxes sitting my hallway look a lot less stressful.

Still here
We're still here but will be a little out of touch for a while. We finally moved all of our stuff to the new apartment thanks to a few burly skinny college guys. Nana and Papa helped out quite a bit too and we had a sitter for Owen (who BTW said, "I've sat for a lot of kids and he is by far the most chill baby I've ever met. Is he always like this?) It was quite the show around here.
It will be at least a week (a week!) before our new internet service is set up so we'll be signing off until then.
But not without a few updates:
Owen has taken to throwing a full blown temper tantrum when I try to change his diaper. Notice I said when "I" do it, because he would never pull that crap with his Daddy.
Owen says, "pooh, pooh" whenever he poops. Also when he farts. Its nice to have an announcement, now if he would just stop trying to reach down and grab the pooh it would be much appreciated.
My son is a carnivore and mostly consumes meatballs and chicken nuggets all day long. He also likes waffles, pizza and frozen yogurt.
Owen had his 15 month visit and is still just below the weight curve for 25th percentile despite his skinny, lanky frame (21 lbs 31.25 inches long) he's just above the 50th for height so he's just meant to be lean I guess. Dr. said he'll be walking in no time, just as soon as he gets the confidence to let go.
Owen starts swim lessons back up in June and we are totally psyched to visit the pool this summer.
Jeremy has three weeks left as an intern, a week-long staycation at the end of June (yay! yay! yay!) and then he is a junior resident. Status change? Hardly. But at least he won't be "the intern" anymore :)
Yesterday, our cashier at Target referred to Owen as a "little princess" and its still not enough to convince us to cut his hair. Jeremy says that instead I need to "butch up" his wardrobe a little. Whatever that means...
