Father's Day 2012

For Father's Day Owen made a special gift for his Daddy at Miss Yovonne's class. He paint-stamped a card (and Mama helped him write on it) and did some hand prints. Then Miss Yovonne helped the kids decorate a pot and put a plant inside for Daddy.

This was the first time Owen really understood gift giving and asked me all week when we could give Daddy his presents. Thankfully, Jeremy had the weekend off so after a full day of pool time on Saturday we had lots of sleeping in and snuggles on Sunday morning.

Then per our "Daddy Day Off" tradition, Jeremy made whole-wheat chocolate chip pancakes. After breakfast Owen gave him his presents and it was so cute to see how excited he was to show Jeremy what he made.

"Hand paints! Card for you and plant!" -- Owen also sang him Happy Birthday and we both laughed hysterically. I guess there isn't really a song for Father's Day so Happy Birthday worked just fine ;)

That night we went out to a FABULOUS burger place for dinner. The wait was over an hour so we went to a park in the meantime and Owen wanted to swing on a big boy swing.

Jeremy dressed Owen in a matching OSU shirt for the day, it was totally adorable.

Father's Day

We have been spoiled with Jeremy home on the weekends this month. Its actually the first full weekends that he has had off since he started residency a year ago (with the exception of vacation). Having him home has been so nice half the time we don't know what to do with ourselves but we're trying to relax and enjoy.

Father's Day started out with Owen and Daddy playing animal sounds and numbers on the iPod.

This week at the JCC Owen make his first craft - a fingerpainted card for Daddy for Father's Day. They pressed his little fingerprints into a little bunny face and the card says, "Somebunny loves you" then O finished it off with some crayons. Needless to say, I was so proud to give it to Jeremy. Such a big boy we have now!

We packed up a warm butterbrickle cake and hashbrown casserole and met some friends in the park for Bach, Beethoven and Brunch. Its a fun summer concert on Sunday mornings. It really was surreal to see everyone sitting in the grass listening to Mary-Poppins-esq music and eating brunch. Kids were climbing trees, people were socializing. It felt like exactly what every family should be doing on a Sunday morning in June.

Oh my goodness can you see the curls in the back of this boy's hair? I MELT!! They wore "matching" outfits picked out by Daddy ;)  None of the greens actually matched but they both had on plaid shorts and Jeremy was thrilled with his choice so I guess that's what's important.
I was there too ;)
And, of course, they practiced walking
After brunch it was home for naps, some play time and then out to dinner.

We had a wonderful weekend together.
