Baby, it's cold outside

We've had our first flurries of the season and it reminded us of when we brought baby Owen home from the hospital in a snowstorm.

We've been bundling him up just enough to get to the car and then once he's fastened in, we cover him with blankets. He wears babylegs almost everyday underneath his pants because they always seem to ride up on his legs exposing tender baby skin to the cold chill of winter. He learned how to take his hat off this week, so I spend most of our outings trying to put it back on to keep his noggin warm. His little hands are another story. When we have him in his full bunting (sweaty monster suit) his hands are warm - but otherwise not. I've been swooning over THESE (the baby ones don't even have thumbs!) but they're a little pricey. How do you keep baby hands warm without spending a fortune?
